What kind of plastic should be used?

I'm really curious what the pros and cons of using various plastics for something and a hairdryer. I've looked at all different types of plastic (polycarbonate, polyurethane, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC). Everything I think, only seems to offer the advantages of each making it difficult to reduce. If you have any knowledge of these plastics and their uses, or a way to compare different plastics, would be useful.

Although they have about reverse engineering of existing hair dryer? They obviously have thought through commitments of various plastics. Or are you trying to design a better mousetrap?
